| Himeji Castle |
Himeji-jōひめじじょう

Himeji Castle, a National Treasure of Japan and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is affectionately known as the 'White Egret Castle' for its stunning white exterior and elegant appearance, symbolizing the pinnacle of Japanese castle architecture.
The castle's main keep (Dai-Tenshu) is its most iconic structure; while appearing as five stories from the outside, it actually contains six floors and a basement internally.
With its remarkably preserved castle walls, brilliant white facade, and mythical Shachihoko figures adorning the roof ridges, the castle strikingly resembles a white egret poised for flight atop Mount Himeyama – a truly spectacular sight.
